SAGINAW BUSINESS PARK DESIGNATED AS AT&T FIBER READY
Designation Reflects Presence of Fiber-Based, High-Speed Internet

THOMAS TOWNSHIP, SAGINAW COUNTY, MI, Oct. 26, 2015 — As part of AT&T’s continuing effort to drive economic development and investment in Michigan, AT&T today joined representatives from the Economic Development Corporation of the County of Saginaw and Saginaw Future Inc. to announce the Great Lakes Tech Park is now designated AT&T Fiber Ready.

The AT&T Fiber Ready designation helps economic development leaders more effectively position their communities for site selection by emphasizing the availability of high-speed, fiber-based services.

“It is a pleasure to highlight Great Lakes Tech Park as one of many Michigan industrial developments where AT&T’s fiber infrastructure is in place and ready to help local businesses drive job creation,” said Jim Murray, president of AT&T Michigan. “Our employees are turning our billions of dollars of investment into high-speed Internet for consumers and businesses across Michigan. Our work is made possible by smart, pro-investment policies championed at the state and federal level, as well as the focused leadership of the local executives who stand with us today.”

In today’s world, connectivity is vital to new employers and businesses of every type.
AT&T has been deploying high-speed, fiber-optic infrastructure across Michigan for years, and the AT&T Fiber Ready designation was developed as a tool for economic development leaders to highlight the assets available in their facilities.

“Our state and local elected officials have worked hard to improve the economic environment across Michigan and their work, coupled with the AT&T Fiber Ready designation, will be key in attracting new businesses to Saginaw County,” said JoAnn Crary, President of Saginaw Future Inc. “The AT&T Fiber Ready designation is a new tool developed to make it clear that world-class communications networks are readily available to help businesses succeed in our community.”

Saginaw County Board of Commissioners Chair Mike Hanley concurred with Crary’s remarks. “We have pushed hard to strengthen our workforce, open the doors to investment, and boost our local economy,” Hanley said. “Our relentless efforts at the local level have helped us grow as leaders in attracting new jobs and investment to Michigan. AT&T’s Fiber Ready designation gives us one more tool for emphasizing the economic resources our community offers.”

Local leaders were pleased to welcome Congressman John Moolenaar to today’s certification announcement. Moolenaar noted the Fiber Ready designation helps shine a light on the high-tech infrastructure needs of today’s businesses.

“Today’s business leaders are thirsty for a technology infrastructure that allows them to be competitive in a global marketplace,” Moolenaar said. “AT&T’s collaboration with federal, state and local leaders helps ensure companies can be productive on day one of their operations—giving any community ready to make that happen a leg up with site selectors and CEOs. It’s a pleasure to see this happening right here in Saginaw County.”
